Basic Camping Equipment

  • Pack (internal or external; w/ hipbelt; good fit, comfortable)
  • Waterproof pack cover (or large garbage bag)
  • Warm sleeping bag in stuff sack (-10F rated; heavyweight)
  • Foam or inflatable sleeping pad (no air mattresses)
  • Tent, with ground cloth**
  • Flashlight (with extra batteries and bulb)
  • Water bottle(s) (1-2 liters)
  • Eating bowl, drinking cup, spoon & fork
  • Personal first aid kit
  • Plastic garbage bags (at least 2)
  • Plastic zip bags for gear (to hold small items)
  • Assorted rope & twine
  • Sunscreen*
  • Small notebook & pencil
  • Small sewing repair kit
  • Small amount of duct tape

**We will probably be using a cabin for winter unless otherwise mentioned

  • Camp Chair (You are responsible for your own sitting implement, if you do not bring one, one will not be lent to you.)

  • Cell Phones, Handheld Gaming devices, TV, iPod/MP3/Walkman,
  • Sheath knife, hatchet, or axe
  • Personal heaters
  • Fireworks
